We are proud to announce that Dr. Erik Mertens, from Oogcentrum Medipolis, has contributed to leading research on refractive surgery, published in the ‘Journal of Refractive Surgery’.<\/p>

In this study, Dr. Mertens and his colleagues focused on a treatment where patients receive an extra lens implant in both eyes on the same day. In ICL surgery, or extra lens implantation, an implant lens is placed in front of the natural lens. This method has proven to be not only safe but also very effective: most patients recover quickly and experience near-perfect vision after the surgery. Performing the procedure on both eyes at once shortens the recovery period and is considered very comfortable as the eyes are immediately back in refractive balance.<\/p>
