In November, ophthalmologists and teams from all over Belgium gathered in Brussels for OB 2025: the annual congress of Academia Opthalmologica Belgica. Many ophthalmologists and staff from our eye clinics were also present, both as enthusiastic participants and active speakers.
The conference programme included numerous fascinating sessions on topics such as cataract surgery, glaucoma, retinal disorders, refractive innovations and more. Our doctors and staff immersed themselves in the latest insights, techniques and practical experiences, while also contributing to the content of the programme themselves.
Dr Scheers from Oogcentrum Brugge acted as moderator for the BSOPRS (Belgian Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery) sessions. She shared her expertise in the field of oculoplastics and provided additional clarification on the topics discussed.
Prof. Dr. Lemmens (Ophthalmologists of the Limburg Region) took the floor during the BGS session, together with Dr. Vandewalle and the rest of the BGS board. She gave a lecture on 5 key messages for gonioscopy: an essential skill for every ophthalmologist. In the afternoon, she led a practical wet lab on glaucoma surgery together with Dr. Vandewalle and Dr. Hondeghem.
It is wonderful to see how such moments and conferences not only deepen our knowledge, but also strengthen cooperation between colleagues and across practice boundaries. By sharing expertise, we continue to build leading eye care together.
